4.5-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental province anew


BUTUAN CITY – A 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit Davao Occidental province anew in Southern Mindanao region Monday morning, June 6, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was recorded at 6:12 a.m.

The epicenter was plotted 39 kilometers southeast of Don Marcelino town, Davao Occidental province.

The tremor had a depth of 134 kms, Phivolcs said.

In its Instrumental Intensities, the state agency also said Intensity II was registered in Malungon, Sarangani and General Santos City while intensity I was recorded in Kiamba, Sarangani; Tupi, South Cotabato; Kidapawan City, North Cotabato province.

The earthquake was tectonic in origin and the state agency did not expect any aftershocks.

The regional office of the Southern Mindanao Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Davao Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported no damage or casualty.
