Valenzuela LGU to build modern, bigger finance building

To improve the city’s services to taxpayers and residents, incumbent Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian said that a modern and bigger finance building will rise in the city hall compound on MacArthur Highway, which is expected to be opened in 2024.

In a video posted on the city’s Facebook page on Tuesday, June 1, Gatchalian said that through the help of the national government, the current three-storey finance building -- the Geronimo S. Angeles building -- will be demolished to build a seven-storey edifice that that will provide convenience to the people who are processing different transactions such as building permits and tax payments.

The project will begin in June, the last month of Gatchalian’s term as mayor.

The local government said the new finance building will have the same features/offices which include the City Treasure’s Office, Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), Zoning Office, Local Civil Registry, a tax payer lounge, and others.

It will also have a storage or archive room for various files, and the “3S+ Electronic Terminal,” the city’s building and construction permit application system.

It added that the services will be halted from June 17 to 19, as the offices in the current finance building will be transferred to a temporary location in Karuhatan. The operations will resume on June 20.

Gatchalian thanked his constituents for their support and apologized to them as there will be an expected delay in the city’s delivery of services due to the building construction.

“Nangangako ho kami sa inyo na hindi titigil ang efficient na services na ibinibigay ng city hall. Magiging komportable pa rin ang temporary na paglalagyan para sa ating mga taxpayers. At higit sa lahat, kapag tapos nitong proyekto two years down the road, mas makabago, mas kumpleto, mas maaliwas, mas maluwag, at mas malaki na finance building ang sasalubong sa inyo (We promise that efficient services provided by the city hall will not stop. The temporary location will still be comfortable for our tax payers. Most of all, when this project is completed two years down the road, you will see a more modern, complete, comfortable, spacious, and larger finance building),” he said.

The mayor added that a new Legislative Building and People’s Center will also be built in the city hall compound.
