Parañaque City's mayor-elect Eric Olivarez vowed that grade school pupils and high school students will continue to received their monthly allowance starting this school year.
Olivarez made the assurance during the recent distribution of college educational financial assistance which was a program of his brother and newly-elected 1st District Rep. Edwin Olivarez.
“Under my administration, we will continue this program to fully assist all students in Parañaque City,“ said mayor-elect Olivarez.
Olivarez, a professor in graduate school education at the De La Salle University, Manila said elementary and high school students will receive this month their P500 monthly financial assistance through their automated teller machines (ATMs) for school year 2022-23.
He said that those covered under the “special allowance” program are students from Grade one to six and junior to senior high school students enrolled in public schools in the city and those listed in the Department of Education's (DepEd) roster.
He also said that his administration “will continue to expand and find other ways to continue to meet the needs of students throughout the city.”
Olivarez also promised to increase the number of college scholars enrolled in private and public colleges and universities in the city.
Because of the present dramatic increases in tuition and fees in private schools, Olivarez added that he will introduce new programs to fully help all college students in the city.
