3 dead, 1 injured in Bulacan building collapse


Three people died while another one was seriously injured when the second floor of a building collapsed at Industrial Park in Barangay Libtong, Meycauayan City, Bulacan, Tuesday afternoon.

Based on a report sent to the office of Col. Charlie A. Cabradilla, acting Bulacan police director, the fatalities were identified as Roel Preston, 38, of Bignay, Valenzuela City; Annalyn Baldon, 35, of Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, Quezon City; and James Franklin Marcelo, 19, of Brgy. Perez, Meycauayan City, Bulacan.

Marjorie Naling, 28, of Bagumbong North, Caloocan City, sustained multiple injuries and was brought to the Meycauayan Doctors Hospital for medical attention.

The victims are employees of E-ONE Consumer Trading Corporation, according to the report.

Citing the assessment of the Meycauayan Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the statements of witnesses, the second floor of the firm's building collapsed due to overloading of stocked parcels.

The victims were hit by falling debris and parcels during the incident, police said.

As of this writing, Bulacan probers were still investigating the incident.
