Two brothers who beat invited ‘cook’ to death arrested in San Pablo City

LAGUNA – Two brothers who were suspects in the alleged murder of a ‘cook’ they invited were arrested by joint operatives of the San Pablo City Police and the SWAT on Monday.

The suspects were identified as Maximino Oribiada, 34, sewer, and resident of Brgy. San Gregorio, San Pablo City, and his younger brother Ryan, 25, a resident of Brgy. Sinipian, Nagcarlan, Laguna.

The two brothers, according to Laguna Police provincial director P/Col. Cecilio Ison Jr, were picked up by the operatives during follow-up operation at around 7:25 p.m. on Monday at Railroad, Barangay San Gregorio, San Pablo City.

The two brothers allegedly took turns in beating the victim identified as Diolando Banayad, whom Maximino had invited to his house at Railroad, Barangay San Gregorio at around 4 p.m. on Sunday (May 29) to help them cook for a birthday party celebration.

After helping, the victim told Maximino that he had to leave for home, but for unknown reasons, the two suddenly had a misunderstanding. This had probably irked Maximino who picked up a piece of wood and hit Banayad on the head.

Maximino’s younger brother, Ryan, came and helped his brother. He took a bottle of beer and beat the victim on the head.

The attack on the victim was witnessed by the victim's sister Beverly Banayad Constantino who positively identified the two brothers after the arrest.

The victim died of head injuries, based on the medical result.

The San Pablo City PNP is still conducting an investigation to determine the root cause of the quarrel between the victim and the suspects that led to the killing while preparing the murder case against the latter.
