The camp of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte has reached out to the camp of outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo for the sake of a "smooth and orderly" transition.
This was confirmed late Sunday night, May 29 by Lilioan town, Cebu Mayor Christina Frasco, Duterte's spokesperson.
"In relation to our statement that Vice President-elect Sara Duterte has formally communicated with the Office of the Vice President for purposes of transition, VP-elect Sara sent a letter dated 27 May 2022 addressed to Vice President Leni Robredo requesting an initial virtual meeting between the members of their respective teams to discuss protocols, policies, precedents and other matters concerning the Office of the Vice President," Frasco said in a statement.
A copy of the letter was sent to reporters. It began with the remarks, "Madayaw! I wish to congratulate you on your achievements as the 14th Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines."
"As can be gleaned from the letter-request of Inday Sara, the initial meeting sought will be between the teams, and not personally between the outgoing Vice President and the incoming Vice President," Frasco said.
"It is the intention of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte to undertake as smooth and orderly a transition as possible," she stressed.
Duterte, the incumbent Davao City Mayor, served as the running mate of President-elect Bongbong Marcos during the May 9 polls. Robredo was a distant second to Marcos in the Palace race.
