Muntinlupa congressman-elect Fresnedi to focus on education

Muntinlupa’s incoming congressman and outgoing Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said he will focus on education in the House of Representatives.

During the flag-raising ceremony at the Muntinlupa City Hall on May 30, Fresnedi said he will volunteer to become a member of the committee on education in the 19th Congress at the Lower House.

"Ako po bilang kinatawan ng ating lungsod sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso, ako po ay magbo-volunteer bilang miyembro ng komite ng edukasyon (As the representative of our city in the Lower House of Congress, I will volunteer to be a member of the committee on education),” said Fresnedi.

On May 27, Fresnedi said he had dinner with Raymundo Arcega, president of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa President, and Carleen Sedilla, superintendent of the Schools Division Office, wherein they discussed programs and challenges in education.

Fresnedi said he will seek their help especially in basic education regarding issues, concerns and programs.

He said if there are programs in education in Muntinlupa that can be applied in the whole country, he will pursue it in the House of Representatives.

In his last nine years as mayor, Fresnedi focused on education as one of his top programs from building new classrooms to implementing scholarship programs.

In serving the public, he said, elected officials need to know the problems of the country and communities, and listen to the people and to those who give advice.
