Coast guard rescues four passengers of distressed boat in Iloilo waters


ILOILO CITY -- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully rescued four people aboard a distressed motorized wooden boat in Carles town, Iloilo province.

A report from PCG-Iloilo indicated that the deployable response team (DRT) at Carles responded to a distressed call off the waters of Manigo-nigo Island Thursday, May 27.

The DRT proceeded to the area and rescued four people and then towed the motor boat to Bancal Port in mainland Carles town. The boat had to undergo repair.

All four are from Pilar town, Capiz province. They were on their way to Polopiña Island in Concepcion town, Iloilo province when the motor banca’s engine encountered trouble off the waters of Manigo-nigo Island. The four were supposed to deliver livestock to Polopiña Island.

Meanwhile, all four were medically checked and they are back to their families in Pilar.
