Comelec union expresses support to Pangarungan’s confirmation


The Commission on Elections Employees' Union (Comelec-EU) has expressed its “full and unequivocal” support for the confirmation of Saidamen B. Pangarungan as chairperson of the poll body.

In a statement of support released on Thursday, May 26, the Comelec-EU---comprised of over 5,000 employees nationwide---- said they witnessed how Pangarungan “effectively 'rally the troops and inspire us to work together to achieve our foremost goal of conducting a Secure, Accurate and Free and Fair Elections.”

“Chairman Pangarungan enjoys the full trust and confidence of the entire Comelec workforce. It is therefore our most fervent prayer that his appointment as Chairman of the Commission on Elections be CONFIRMED by the Honorable Congressional Commission on Appointments,” the union declared.

The employees’ union of the poll body also noted that the successful conduct of polls amid the pandemic is a “testament” to Pangarungan’s “capable leadership.”

“e bravely took on the reins and helmed meritoriously, one of the most challenging electoral exercises in our nation's collective memory,” the union stated.

Meanwhile, the Comelec-EU said they are optimistic that Pangarungan will fulfill his promise to fortify the poll body by putting on top the needs of Comelec employees.

“We know he will deliver on this promise as we share the belief that the workforce is every organization's greatest asset.”
