UPV Graduate Program Office now a graduate school

The University of the Philippines Visayas Graduate Program Office (UPV-GPO) has been raised into UPV Graduate School (GS) by the UP Board of Regents (BOR) as per a news article posted on UPV's website Tuesday, May 24.

This status advancement was approved during the BOR’s 1370th meeting on April 28.

In line with this, the GS will now be considered one of the degree-granting units of UPV.

It will be headed by a dean and assisted by a college secretary as per the proposed organizational structure.

Faculty members must be selected from the university's academic units, which will then be issued appointments to teach in the GS by the chancellor.

The graduate school targets to establish a research-oriented graduate education program.

As of this moment, UPV's program offers a doctorate in fisheries, master of science programs, professional master's programs, and a diploma program. (Luisa Cabato)
