The special polls in 12 barangays and 15 clustered precincts in Tubaran, Lanao del Sur successfully opened and functioned on Tuesday, May 24, the Commission on Elections said.
"Not a single glitch or issue as of this time," Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said in a statement.
This was seconded by Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco.
“Every hour, Director (Ray) Sumalipao sends his report to us that shows that there are no untoward incident, not a single glitch or issue that came out,” he said in a press briefing.
Sumalipao is the Comelec regional election director in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
As of noon time, Comelec Deputy Executive Director for Operations (DEDO) Teopisto Elnas said there was no report of defective vote counting machines (VCMs) or defective SD cards.
"The contingency SD cards and contingency VCMs were also deployed...in the event we would have a VCM that would bog down or there was a defective SD card along the way, we would be able to replace them immediately,” he said.
The poll body on May 11 declared failure of elections in 12 barangays in Tubaran due to violence, threats and intimidation.
