PNP now preparing for inauguration of BBM, Sara

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now preparing for the inauguration of presumptive president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos and presumptive vice president Sara Duterte, a ranking official said on Monday, May 24.

Police Maj. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, director of the PNP Directorate for Operations, said the security preparation is either for joint or separate proclamations for Maercos and Duterte who both secured a landslide victory during the May 9 national and local elections with more than 30 million votes each.

Earlier, Duterte said she wants to hold the inauguration on June 19 for her to have time with her father and their family when President Rodrigo Roa Duterte steps down on June 30.

The inauguration of Marcos, on the other hand, is expected to be at noon on June 30 as stipulated in the Constitution.

“The PNP expects a large number of supporters to attend this activity and at this early, we are already preparing to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of this event,” said De Leon.

“We are now coordinating with the camps of BBM and Mayor Sara to further know their respective plans so that all of these could be factored in as we prepare for the inauguration,” he added.
