Two rebels surrender in Ilagan City


CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, Tuguegarao City -- Police Regional Office 2 reported Wednesday the voluntary surrender of two members of Militia ng Bayan and the turn-over of firearm in Barangay Baligatan, City of Ilagan, Isabela.

Alias Zeny, 44, Alias Nina, 65, both residents of Sitio Caunayan, Barangay Old San Mariano, San Mariano, Isabela submitted themselves to the personnel of 1st Isabela Provincial Mobile Force Company on Tuesday.

The campaign against insurgency and terrorism has been being conducted jointly by San Mariano Municipal Police Station; Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG); Isabela Provincial Field Unit; Isabela Police Provincial Office; 201st Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2 (RMFB2); and other law enforcement units in coordination with 86th Infantry Brigade and 95th Infantry Brigade, and 502nd IB of the Philippine Army.

Authorities here attributed their success to the intensified implementation of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict pursuant to Executive Order Number 70 approved and issued by President Duterte.

Prior to the surrender of Alyas Zeny and Alyas Nina, a Militia ng Bayan member in Camalaniugan, Cagayan had also surrendered in Jones, Isabela.

The surrender of Alyas Edu, 35, was facilitated by personnel of 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company together with Intel Tracker Team of Camalaniugan Police Station.

Alyas Edu also turned-over one rifle grenade to the Philippine National Police.

Meanwhile, a CTG supporter in the person of Alyas Jona, 51, and affiliated with the Southern Front, Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley has also decided to surrender.
