Palace urges public to move forward as Comelec proclaims new set of senators


Malacañang has urged the public to move forward and work together as he lauded the new set of senators who won in the recently concluded 2022 elections.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar made this appeal as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed the 12 new lawmakers on Wednesday, May 18.

In a statement, Andanar lauded the newly proclaimed Senators of the Republic, saying this set brings a set of hope and optimism.

"Our people have elected old and new faces in the Senate, and there is a sense of hope and optimism with the new set of lawmakers," he said.

The acting Palace spokesman said with the proclamation of the new senators; it was now time to move forward and work together to address pressing issues such as the ongoing health crisis.

"It is now time to move forward after a divisive election campaign and begin the daunting task of speeding up our economic recovery affected by the Covid-19 pandemic," Andanar said.

"Let us work closely together and pray for our nation’s success," he added.

The 12 winning senatorial candidates are Robin Padilla, Loren Legarda, Raffy Tulfo, Sherwin Gatchalian, Francis Escudero, Mark Villar, Alan Peter Cayetano, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Joel Villanueva, JV Ejercito, Risa Hontiveros, and Jinggoy Estrada.
