Gun ban violator nabbed in Muntinlupa


The police arrested a suspected gun ban violator in Muntinlupa on May 17.

According to the Muntinlupa police, suspect Victor Santos, 18, was nabbed at E. Rodriguez corner PNR Site in Barangay Tunasan.

Santos was arrested during an anti-criminality operation conducted by the Muntinlupa police’s Tunasan Sub-station.

The police saw the suspect holding an improvised gun that prompted them to arrest him. Confiscated from Santos was an improvised .22-caliber handgun loaded with one live ammunition.

Santos will be charged with violations of Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of improvised firearm and ammunition) and Commission on Elections Resolution No. 10728 on the rules on the ban on the bearing, carrying or transporting of firearms and other deadly weapons in relation to Batas Pambansa 881 (Omnibus Election Code).

“While the elections are over, I remind the public that the gun ban is still in effect. Carrying a firearm is not authorized and strictly banned under the law,” said Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg.
