Taiwanese, Filipino cohort nabbed in P3-M Makati drug bust


Anti-narcotics operatives arrested a Taiwanese national and his alleged Filipino cohort on Monday, May 16 after they yieldsed P 3 million worth of ketamine in a controlled delivery operation in Makati City.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspects as Taiwanese Cheng Hong Liao, a resident of Trump Tower located on Kalayaan avenue of the same city; and Altrie Alonzo of Pasay City.

PDEA agents said Alonzo admitted to have been instructed by Cheng to claim the package containing the illegal substance.

During the operation, authorities confiscated more or less 600 grams of ketamine, driver’s license, room identification card (ID) and a cellular phone.

Cheng and Alonzo face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’

The operation was carried out by PDEA Region 3, Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark, PDEA Clark Inter Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region South District office and local police. (Chito A. Chavez)
