Man with hand grenade arrested in Pasig


A man was arrested by operatives of the Pasig City police for carrying a hand grenade and a pistol replica on Monday, May 16, amid the ongoing gun ban due to the May 2022 national and local elections.

The police identified the suspect as Jezreel Bierra, 33, a resident of Barangay San Miguel.

According to the police report, elements of the Pasig City police were dispatched to conduct a follow-up operation on a hold-up incident on May 15 in Barangay Kapitolyo where they spotted Bierra along Farmer's Avenue in Barangay Malinao with a pistol tucked in his waist.

The officers approached Bierra and asked for the pistol's documents but failed to present any, leading to his arrest and subsequent recovery of the firearm. However, when he was frisked, a hand grenade was recovered inside his sling bag which was brought to the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) section of Pasig police for proper disposition.

The suspect was first brought to Rizal Medical Center (RMC) for physical examination and was brought to the police station for further investigation and filing of appropriate cases.
