Danao pushes for more anti-terror trainings abroad

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is eyeing more schooling and training programs abroad for its bomb disposal operatives.

PNP Offier-In-Charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao, Jr. said the training programs abroad will equip members of the PNP Explosive and Ordnance Division the necessary knowledge and tools to counter any new terrorism strategies of the enemies.

"Let us have more schooling or more of this in coordination with the United States because they have plenty to share on this aspect," said Danao.

The Philippines has experienced several bombing incidents in the past, perpetrated by Mindanao-based terror groups trained by bomb experts from international terror groups.

Danao said he himself saw the evolution of terror attacks in the country, starting with the use of cellphone-detonated bombs and other forms of improvised explosive devices.

"There are so many innovations coming from the enemy. So let us update our knowledge for us to keep up so that we will be able to prevent more incidents like what happened in the past," said Danao.
