BBM Vlog deep-dive: Marcos explains decision to ditch red, green outfits in campaign finale

Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos has been using vlogs to reach as wide an audience as possible ahead of the May 9, 2022 elections. With now over 200 of these vlogs posted on his YouTube channel, a scouring of noteworthy snippets in these videos is in order.

In BBM Vlog no.210, Marcos reflects on the just-concluded elections where he has appeared to have clinched the presidency to tune of 31 million votes.

The former senator and Ilocos Norte governor profusely thanked his staff and supporters for being with UniTeam all the way and donning the red and green. Red and green are the campaign colors of Marcos and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, respectively.

Speaking of their campaign colors, the UniTeam duo conspicuously didn't wear them during their final "miting de avance" or campaign send-off last May 7 in Parañaque City. Instead, they both wore white.

The now presumptive president Marcos explained why he and Duterte went "colorless" for their campaign finale.

"Noong panghuling miting de avance ay napansin ng karamihan na puti ang isinuot namin ni Mayor Inday at hindi na ang aming mga campaign colors. Ito ay sa kadalihanang ito ay sagisag ng aming mensahe na walang nang kulay o pulitika sa puntong ito (A lot of people have noticed that me and Mayor Inday didn't wear our campaign colors during the last miting de avance. This is for that reason that it symbolizes our message of not looking at colors or politics moving forward)," Marcos said.

"Tayong lahat ay Pilipino, isang lahi at iisa ang tutunguhan (We are all Filipinos, of one race and destiny)," added the presumed Palace race victor.

To the 31 million who voted for him last May 9, Marcos had this to say: "Hindi sapat ang mga salita upang ipaabot sa inyo kung gaano kami nagpapapasalamat. Ito lang ang aming maisusukli sa inyo: Hindi namin kayo bibiguin (Words aren't enough to express how thankful we are. We can only promise you this: We will not fail you)."
