Robredo, daughters, fly coach to NY for Jillian's graduation


Vice President Leni Robredo took to social media as she documented her and her daughters' journey to New York for the youngest Robredo's college graduation.

The Vice President uploaded several clips of their journey on her Instagram story. She was sitting in economy class between Jillian and Aika, while Tricia was seated beside her older sister on their Korean Air flight via Incheon.

Robredo likewise took videos of her daughters while they were at the airport for their five-hour layover. Aika was watching from her tablet, Jillian was on her phone, and Jillian appeared to be doing some work on her iPad.

The Vice President teased her doctor daughter Tricia by taking a video of her sleeping as they awaited their flight.

"Parang galing duty lang (It's like you had just finished your hospital duty)," she wrote in her Instagram story, matched with a sleeping emoji.

Robredo and her daughters are going to New York to attend Jillian's graduation. She is pursuing a double degree in mathematics and economics at New York University under a full scholarship.

In a Facebook post hours before their flight, Robredo said they would be gone for a few days "to just spend time with family and take a well-deserved rest before all of us restart the lives we have put on hold."

"This is the first time since my husband died in 2012 that we will be traveling again as a family with no work to take care of," she said, referring to her husband, the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, who died in an unfortunate aircraft incident in August 2012.

Before leaving Manila, Vice President Robredo announced the launch of the Angat Buhay nongovernment organization (NGO), continuing her project during her six-year stint as vice president.

In a Facebook post, Robredo said she would still be on top of the preparations for the launch of Angat Buhay NGO. She likewise assured that the entire Office of the Vice President (OVP) is making all the preparations for the official turnover of the office to the duly-elected 15th Vice President.
