Jessie Geriane shattered her recent Philippine record anew en route to winning the silver medal in swimming’s 50-meter backstroke race at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam Sunday night.
Geriane, a freshman student of Notre Dame in Illinois, timed 29.35 seconds to erase her own mark of 29.38sec she established Sunday morning for the runner-up honors.
Indonesia’s Masniari Wolf copped the gold medal with a time of 29.21sec while compatriot Anak Agung Istri Ratih Atmaja took home the bronze in 29.59sec.
The PH team currently has one silver and one bronze medal – the other feat courtesy of Miranda Renner in the women’s 100m freestyle.
