Killed in the accident was Lida Arevalo, 50, of the said village, while her son-in-law Richard Dela Cruz, 37, also of the same village, was wounded.

Lt. Col. Joseph Fajardo Jr., Victorias City police chief, said the two victims were on their way home from work when they hit a stockpile of sand.

Fajardo said Dela Cruz lost control of his motorcycle after hitting the stockpile of sand, and fell on the ground.

Fajardo said Dela Cruz suffered minor injuries, while Arevalo sustained head injuries and later died in a hospital.

Both were not wearing helmets, and the area had no warning device, the police chief added.

Fajardo said the stockpile was occupying the other lane and considered obstructing the road. The area was also not well-lighted, he added.
