Two suspects wanted for 16 counts of qualified trafficking in persons arrested in Laguna


LAGUNA – Two most wanted persons were arrested by the Laguna police in Sta. Cruz town here for 16 counts of human trafficking, a police report said on Friday.

Laguna Police acting provincial director, Colonel Cecilio Ison Jr. identified the accused as Johmar Salisod, 21, single, jobless, and resident at Brgy. Bagumbayan, Santa Cruz, Laguna and Vince Tuazon, 23, single, jobless, and resident at Brgy. Santisima Cruz, also in Santa Cruz, Laguna.

Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 4-A conducted the joint operation on May 12, 2022 in Brgy. Poblacion 3, Santa Cruz, Laguna to arrest the suspects by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued on May 2, 2022 by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 26, in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

The suspects were accused of 16 counts of violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 (Qualified Trafficking in Persons Penalized under sec. 6 (A) in relation to sec. 4 (E) of R.A. 9208 as Amended by R.A. 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012).

The suspects are also accused of four counts of offense under Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (Sec. 4 (A) of R.A. 9775 in relation to sec. 4 (C) (2) of R.A. 10175).

No bail was recommended for the accused’s temporary liberty.

The accused are temporarily in the custody of Calamba City Police Station while the court of origin will be notified of their arrest.
