Newly-elected Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos led a group of well-wishers in a courtesy call to speakership contender, House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez at the latter's Makati City residence Thursday afternoon, May 12.
Rep. Marcos is the son of presumptive president, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Bongbong Marcos. Romualdez, on the other hand, is the UniTeam candidate's cousin.
Rep. Marcos led the visit on the same day that the National Unity Party (NUP) endorsed Romualdez as the speaker for the upcoming 19th Congress.
Romualdez, who was recently reelected as Leyte 1st district congressman, was the one who trained the younger Marcos on legislative work in preparation for his run in the just-concluded May 9 elections.
The majority leader--referred to by his colleagues as "Majo"--has yet to formally respond to the speakership issue.
Romualdez sits as president of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.
