Did blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina throw shade at online stars?

Blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina reunited with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in a special documentary for the upcoming series "2 Good To Be True" which will be broadcast on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5 beginning May 16.

In the documentary entitled "2Good2gether, A Special Reunion: Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla," Cathy said that the showbiz industry needs real actors like Daniel and Kathryn, not online stars who became successful overnight.

"I've seen actors. We've seen them come and go and right now ako sasabihin ko bumalik na kayo," said Cathy.

She added: "Kailangan namin kayo. Ayokong iniisip nila na they've made it just because they're famous online. Come back pakita niyo sa kanila ano ang ibig sabihin ng tunay na artista."

Daniel responded: Sagutin ko lang yan Direk Cathy. Yung sampung taon na pinalaki nyo kami, lahat yun dahil sa tinanim n'yo sa amin.

"Alam namin yung essence ng pagiging actor, o tawagin man natin isang artista. Alam namin yung tutoong essence nun eh. kaya talagang tine-treasure namin ito.

"Hindi lang ito basta fame, and fortune. The lights, the bright lights. Hindi lang yun di ba? It's something deeper The experiences, the lives you touched. Kaya kami ni Kathryn 100 percent yung trust na binibigay namin sa inyo kasi kayo lang din naman yung nagbibigay sa amin ng tiwala a nilalabas nyo yung best namin all the time," he said.

Cathy is the director of the highest-grossing Filipino movie "Hello, Love, Goodbye" which grossed more than P800 million at the box office worldwide. It was previously held by "The Hows of Us" which she also directed. Her other blockbuster films were A Second Chance, Starting Over Again, and more.

Joining Cathy in the docu were Mae Cruz Alviar, and Olivia Lamasan, who directed some of their most memorable box-office films that were instrumental in making KathNiel a formidable love team over the past 10 years.

Reacting to Daniel's comment, Mae said: "Tinanong nyo ako di ba if you still believe in us? Siguro hindi ko tatanggapin yung soap natin if I don't believe in you. There are many, many reasons why kung puedeng mag-give up na kami or ako sa project na yan. Di ba ang tagal nag take-off? But it was because of you. You're really the reason why I did it, I'm doing it, because I believe in you. We feel your trust."

Kathryn also revealed that she and Daniel became sweethearts on May 25, 2012. "Noong patapos na yung 'Princess and I' naging kami na."

While fans have followed KathNiel as a love team, Olivia encouraged Kathryn and Daniel to do projects separately.

"Kasi yung pag gawa ninyo ng projects na hindi kayo magkasama, there's a different growth in that," Olivia said. "So when you get together again, iba na naman ang maibibigay ninyo."
