PH bets cruise to podium finishes in rowing

Filipino bets cruised to podium finishes and delivered the first set of medals in the rowing event in the 31st Southeast Asian Games at the Thuy Nguyen Boat Racing Center in Vietnam on Wednesday, May 11.

Tokyo Olympian Cris Nievarez and partner Joseph Christian Jasmin claimed the silver medal in men's lightweight double sculls while the quartet of Joanie Delgaco, Amelyn Pagulayan, Josephine Mirelle Qua and Kristine Paraon bag the bronze medal in women's quadruple sculls.

Nievarez and Jasmin missed the gold mint, clocking 7:05.85 which was four seconds off first placers Ardi Isedi and Kakan Rusmana from Indonesia who logged 7:01.38.

Nhu Dihn Nam and Bui Van Hoan of the host Vietnam finished third with 7:08.60.

Meanwhile, Delgaco, Pagulayan, Qua and Paraon completed the race in 7:28.87, 15 seconds behind gold medal winners Pham Thi Thao, Dihn Thin Hao, Ho Thi Ly and Pham Thi Hue of host Vietnam who logged 7:13.20.

Indonesia's Putri Agni Anugerah, Annisa Meilani Yahya, Maslin Efrilia and Dewi Purwati seized the silver in 7:23.61.

The PH bets will take a break on Thursday before returning to action on May 13-14 for the final races in other rowing events.
