Caritas Philippines national director and Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo said the Filipino people must remain vigilant long after the national and local elections to make sure that elected officials fulfill their campaign promises.

Bagaforo who led the “Halalang Marangal 2022,” stressed that apart from voters’ education and poll watching, the Church also ensures that elected officials fulfill their campaign programs as part of their covenant signing with the Social Action Centers Good Governance of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.

“We will pursue our post-election program of making our leaders accountable to their promises. We will continuously publish, expose and disseminate information about their proposed programs,” said Bagaforo over Radio Veritas.

The prelate said, these programs include those that will benefit the environment and the promotion of human rights.

“Let us help each other. Let us work together for the greater welfare of our people and our country,” said Bishop Bagaforo.

The Church leader stressed that differences and beliefs aside, elected leaders must make true their promises for the common good and a better Philippines.
