46 election returns canvassed for local absentee voting—Comelec

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday, May 11, said it has canvassed 46 election returns (ERs) of local absentee voting (LAV) out of the 188 ERs .

Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex C. Laudiangco said the total canvassed LAV was around 25 percent as of May 11.

“Again, to stress, this is the highest turnout of registrants and voters who actually voted for the local absentee voting,” he said.

Laudiangco said a total of 84,358 voters were approved to cast their via LAV.

Of this number, 74,852 of them voted, which equates to 88 percent of the total LAV voters.

Under the LAV, government officials and employees; personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police; as well as members of the media, including their technical and support staff, are allowed to avail of local absentee voting.

This is as long as they are duly registered voters, whose registration records are not deactivated; and will be temporarily assigned to perform election duties or to cover and report on the conduct of elections in places where they are not registered voters.
