The Western Visayas regional police recorded a low crime volume during May 9 national and local polls compared to election day s in the past.
Police Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo, director of the Police Regional Office 6, attribute the low crime volume to early security preparations and strategic deployment of policemen, especially in crime prone areas and other places where election violence would likely occur.
Based on the PRO6 data, police recorded a total of 24 total crime incidents, which Dongbo said, is far lower compared to the election day in the year 2016 and 2019 with 125 and 62, respectively.
"This can be attributed to the early preparations and focused executions of all involved agencies under Regional Joint Security Control Center that anchored on the four C’s principle: coordination, collaboration, cooperation and commitment," said Dongbo.
He then expressed gratitude to the Commission on Elections, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Education, and other government agencies for what he described as committed efforts and sacrifices to ensure a secure, accurate, free and fair conduct of the elections.
Dongbo said the deployment of his men will remain until such time that all election paraphernalia are returned to its proper places, election results are completely transmitted and all security and safety concerns are attended.
