Rep. Eric Olivarez was proclaimed new mayor of Parañaque City, replacing his brother Mayor Edwin Olivarez who will serve as first district congressman.
Olivarez garnered a total of 174,816 votes, defeating Baclaran Barangay Chairman Jun Zaide who got 64,263 votes in the mayoral race.
The vice mayoral bet of Team Sulong Bagong Paranaque, Binky Favis, garnered only 89,131 votes, losing his bid to Councilor Joan Villafuerte who got 102,760 votes.
The Olivarez brothers were proclaimed winners at around 1:30 p.m. by Commission on Elections (Comelec) officers Atty. Nesrin Cali and Atty. Mario Esguerra at the Parañaque Sports Complex.
The platform of government of the newly elected mayor of Parañaque is focused on on E- Eduation, R-reformation of youth through sports and culture; I-improvement of lives through health promotion, livelihood and housing, and C-care for elderly, environment, business friendly and God-centered leadership.
Rep. Olivarez thanked the residents who gave him their support and trust to serve the city as its new chief executive.
