Mayor Ponce wins by landslide in Pateros


Incumbent Miguel “Ike” Ponce III easily cruised to victory for his third and final term as mayor of Pateros.

The Pateros municipal board of canvassers proclaimed on May 10 the winners of the May 9 national and local elections.

Ponce won by a landslide against his rival. Tally from the board showed that Ponce, who ran under Aksyon Demokratiko, garnered 28,534 votes to get reelected as Pateros mayor.

His rival, independent candidate Marily Chiong lost, garnering 2,777 votes.

Of their total votes of 31,311, Ponce got 91.13 percent while Chiong had 8.86 percent.

For vice mayor, Carlo Santos of the Nacionalista Party (NP) won against John Peter Marzan, Ponce’s running mate.

Santos got 18,656 votes (54.22 percent) while Marzan had 14,227 votes (45.77 percent), or a difference of 2,629 votes.

For the congressman of the First District of Taguig-Pateros, Ading Cruz of NP won against Allan Cerafica of the Partido Pilipino sa Pagbabago (PPP)

There are 39,273 registered voters in Pateros and during the May 9 elections, 33,228 voted for a turnout of 84.65 percent.
