RRQ Philippines finished third in the WCS Finals after falling to the hands of Taiwanese squad Flash Wolves, 4-2, in the lower bracket finals on Saturday, May 7.
WCS PH champion came short in its comeback attempt after succumbing in Games 5 and 6 to settle for the third spot and bag a $23,000 prize along with a ticket to the Icons Global Championship play-in stage.
Vietnamese squad Team Flash topped the tournament following its 4-0 sweep of Flash Wolves in the Grand Finals on Sunday.
Team Flash got a direct qualification to the Icons Group Stage while Flash Wolves and fourth place team Buriram United Esports will be joining RRQ in the play-in.
Fellow Filipino team Fennel Adversity, meanwhile, finished at the 5th-6th spot after yielding to RRQ, 3-0 in the lower bracket quarterfinals. RRQ then swept Buriram United in the lower bracket semifinals, setting up the clash against Flash Wolves in the next round.
