Construction worker, minor nabbed for ‘vote buying’ in Negros town

BACOLOD CITY - A construction worker and his minor-companion were arrested for alleged vote buying at Sitio Mague, Barangay Tibsoc, San Enrique, Negros Occidental on Sunday.

Police arrested Dindo Tolosa, 56, of Barangay Poblacion, and the minor, whose name was withheld.

According to the police, Barangay Kagawad Juno Benitez and a barangay tanod while conducting roving in the area, flagged down a tricycle ridden by the two suspects.

When they were asked if where they’re heading past 11 p.m., Tolosa reportedly told them that they have something to bring to a resident of the said sitio, but did not reveal the name of the receiver.

When the barangay official checked the things that they were supposed to bring to a resident, they presented a plastic containing an envelope with markings.

Such envelope also allegedly contained a shaded sample ballot, P2,100, and a leaflet. A cellular phone was also recovered.

Tolosa, who has yet to be reached for comment, is now under the custody of San Enrique Municipal Police Station, while the minor was turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk.
