Winston revealed on Saturday, May 7 that he would spend his final year playing for the De La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP.

Declaring for the PBA Draft is one of the top choices for the two-and-through combo guard but the chance to continue in the collegiate scene was not his decision alone.

His father Laurian Watkins and mother Carla Ruby Rose, a native of Olongapo, played a huge role in their son's decision.

"We made a decision as a family. That's right we made a decision," said Winston's mother as she chanted the "D-L-S-U Animo La Salle" cheer.

"Going back to De La Salle. We coming back La Salle. He's not going to the PBA yet. Expect him to come back next year."

Earlier in the clip, the 6-foot-4 Filipino-American guard had to contemplate his next step after suffering a heartbreaking loss to University of the Philippines in their semifinals showdown in the UAAP.

The Green Archers were able to technically tie the series in Game 1, 83-80, as the Fighting Maroons used their twice-to-beat advantage but eventually collapsed in Game 2, 78-74, despite Winston's 26-point outing.

Winston averaged 13.36 points, 3.79 rebounds, 1.79 assists, and 1.79 steals throughout 14 games in the elimination round.
