EXCLUSIVE: Iya Villania-Arrelano and her thoughts on motherhood

Gives advice to fellow moms when there are tough days

The soon-to-be mom of four talked about her experience from going through all the struggles of pregnancy to having those tiny humans in her life with husband Drew Arellano.

Iya always knew that she wanted to be a mom someday. Even before she had a family, she was already very hands on to her nephews and nieces. Cheers to all the tita’s and tito’s out there for taking care and for having the patience to keep up with the kids, it’s always a great way to practice parenting.

Being pregnant brings about a lot of emotions, too! “It’s weird. You’re so excited about the moment. You love your child and yet, there’s like no connection kase kapapanganak mo pa lang, but you just know that you’re gonna love that little human the most that you can forever. ‘Yun lang iyon, you just know that your life and your world is gonna change because of that tiny human being.”

From physical to mental and emotional exhaustion to a point where you questioned yourself if you can survive this journey, it is a major adjustment to every aspect because it’s a sudden change of your life. It was an intense roller coaster that every mom went through.

At some point, it never goes away—from the pressure to prove that you are fit to be a mom when in reality you are having a hard time. It’s normal for a mom to feel overwhelmed and just break down from exhaustion.

For Iya, there were no days she thought she couldn't do it. Yes, there were times when she was exhausted and felt sorry for herself because of her motherhood journey, but there was never a time it came to her mind that she gave up.

The supermom embraced her reality and shared, “Wow! This is how it is. Ito pala siya.

Iya also shared how she was able to get through the days and overcome the bumpy road, “I realized that you really just have to take a day at a time. You will have good days, you will have really bad days, but then you have really awesome days. So many small moments that would just be priceless, All these small moments that you are going to cherish na, no bad day will ever cover up. Yeah, no bad day will ever be able to take over those little priceless moments that you will get to witness and experience.”
