Patients evacuated as fire hits homes near Ospital ng Tondo in Manila


A fire hit a residential area near the Ospital ng Tondo on Abad Santos Avenue in Manila on Friday morning, May 6, that caused the evacuation of some patients from the hospital.

Around eight patients have been evacuated from the Ospital ng Tondo amid the incident. They were transferred to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Hospital.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire reached the first alarm at 9:30 a.m. and escalated to the second alarm at 9:32 a.m.

The fire was further raised to the third alarm at 9:41 a.m.

The fire was put under control at 10:23 a.m. and declared fire out at 10:49 a.m. according to Senior Fire Inspector (SINSP) Magallanes of the BFP.

No injuries and casualties have been reported as of this writing. ​​

The number of families and individuals affected by the incident, as well as the cost of the damages, are still being determined.

The origin of the fire is under investigation by the BFP.
