8 reelectionist, 9 new mayoral candidates in NCR leading in latest survey


Eight reelectionist and nine candidates for mayors in the National Capital Region (NCR) may clinch the top local post in the May 9 local elections, based on the latest survey of the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).

The “Election 2022 NCR Survey” was conducted from April 28 to May 2 through face-to-face interviews with a total of 10,000 respondents randomly selected in various areas of Metro Manila.

The survey has a margin of error from 2.5 to 3 percent for large cities, and 3.36 percent for small areas with 850 respondents.

In the latest survey, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte got 64 percent while Rep. Mike Defensor received 33 percent, or a margin of 31 percentage points.

In Navotas, John Rey Tiangco garnered 90 percent while rival RC Cruz received seven percent.

Along Malapitan got 82 percent in the survey for mayor in Caloocan while Egay Erice received 17 percent.

Mayoral candidate and Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon is ahead in the survey with 88 percent compared to 10 percent for rival Red Mariñas.

Former Commission on Elections chairman Benhur Abalos (86 percent) of Mandaluyong, Rep. Wes Gatchalian (87 percent) of Valenzuela, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna (58 percent) of Manila, Rep. Eric Olivarez (83 percent) of Paranaque, former Vice Mayor Jeannie Sandoval (57 percent) of Malabon, and Rep. Lani Cayetano (68 percent) of Taguig are ahead in the survey and may become the new mayors of their respective cities.

Relectionist NCR mayors leading in the survey are Abby Binay of Makati (97 percent), Marcy Teodoro of Marikina (62 percent), Emi Calixto-Rubiano (95) of Pasay, Vico Sotto (70 percent) of Pasig, Ike Ponce (86 percent) of Pateros, Francis Zamoras (87 percent) of San Juan, and Imelda Aguilar (93 percent) of Las Pinas.
