PH men's and women's team to play exhibition matches against VNL squads


The national men’s and women’s volleyball teams are scheduled to play exhibition matches against top teams to kickstart the country’s hosting of two Volleyball Nations League legs next month.

According to Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) president Tats Suzara, the women’s team will play against Thailand on June 11 and Japan on June 12.

The men’s team, for its part, will go up against Japan on June 16 and possibly Germany on June 27.

All matches will be held at The Arena in San Juan City where spectators are allowed to watch.

The country will host Week 2 of the women’s preliminary round on June 14 to 19 and the VNL Week 2 men’s pool matches from June 21 to 26 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Both tournaments will have the world’s top eight volleyball nations for both genders.

Three-time VNL champion and Tokyo Olympics gold medalist United States banner the women's pool that includes reigning Asian champion Japan, Southeast Asian queen Thailand, China, Poland and Canada.

Tokyo Olympics gold medalist France leads the men's side and will be challenged by fan favorite Japan, Slovenia, Argentina, Italy, Germany and The Netherlands.
