MPD on full alert for May 9 polls


With less than four days left before Election Day, the Manila Police District (MPD) on Thursday, May 5, assured that it is all systems go for the 2022 national and local elections on May 9.

Mobile Force Battalion Commander LT. Col. Julius Añonuevo said the MPD is now on full alert and has started deploying policemen to various areas of concern in the city.

"Starting kahapon (yesterday), we are on full alert status. Actually kahapon nagkaroon na kami ng deployment (Actually yesterday we already had a deployment) On our part...support kami sa mga istasyon, magbabantay sa mga polling centers, polling precincts (we support the stations, guard polling centers, polling precincts),” said Añonuevo in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo.

Around 5,500 cops will be deployed in the City of Manila to assure the safety of voters and elections personnel in various places in the city, the report added.

The police will also assist in the transportation of people and in securing the vote counting machines (VCMs) in the polling precincts, Añonuevo said.

“Kumpleto na po yung gamit namin. Andiyan na po yung mobility namin, yung pag-tatransport ng tao, yung pag-sesecure ng mga VCMs (Our equipment is complete. We already have the mobility, the transportation of people, the securing of VCMs).”
