“The chairman (Chairperson Saidamen B. Pangarungan) would like us to announce that there were 32 alleged members of private armed groups arrested in Laguna,” Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner George Erwin M. Garcia said in a press briefing, Thursday, May 5.

The Comelec lauded authorities for arresting the suspected member of private armed groups in Laguna.

“We would like to commend the arresting officers and we’re hoping that the proper charges would be filed, and if this is election-related, likewise, and who are the principals behind these alleged private armed groups,” said Garcia.

“Masyado po kasing marami, 32 lahat sila (There so many of them, all in all 32),” he added.

According to Garcia, all the 32 alleged members of private armed groups are now under the custody of authorities.

The Comelec said it will soon provide more details about the nabbed suspected members of private armed groups.

“We will make an announcement soon as to whether this is election-related or this has something to do with any of the candidates in the said area,” he ended.
