Advincula to take canonical possession of his titular church in Rome, Saturday


Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula will take canonical possession of his titular church in Italy, Rome on Saturday, April 30.

"The Eucharistic Celebration for the Solemn Canonical Possession of the Titular Church of San Vigilio of His Eminence Jose F. Cardinal Advincula on April 30, 2022, 7 p.m. (Rome time) May 1, 2022, 1 a.m. (Philippine time)," the Archdiocese of Manila announced on Friday, April 29.

Last April 21, Cardinal Advincula also had a private audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican in Rome. It was the first time Pope Francis met him as Cardinal and Archbishop of Manila.

The Archbishop of Manila was created and proclaimed Cardinal by the Holy Father in the consistory of Nov. 28, 2020, at height of the pandemic in the Philippines.

On March 25, 2021, Pope Francis appointed him as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila and was installed on June 24, 2021, at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception or Manila Cathedral.
