Rain showers to persist in Palawan, VisMin due to LPA, ITCZ

Residents of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao may continue to experience partly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours due to the low pressure area and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said on Thursday, April 28.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said that the LPA was last spotted 220 kilometers (km) southwest of Zamboanga City.

“Itong LPA na ito ay nakapaloob sa ITCZ, at sa kasalukuyan ay patuloy na umiiral sa bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao, maging sa lalawigan ng Palawan (This LPA is embedded along the ITCZ which is affecting parts of Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan),” said PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda in a public weather forecast.

The LPA, according to the state weather bureau, is not expected to intensify further, but residents of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao were warned to remain vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides that the LPA and ITCZ may cause.

Meanwhile, in the next 24 hours, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
