Poe to gov’t: Lose no time in distributing fuel subsidy

Senator Grace Poe on Wednesday, April 27, said the government should expedite the distribution of fuel subsidy to public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators as they grapple with the weekly spike in oil prices.

Poe, chair of the Senate Committee on Public Services, said that aside from tricycle drivers, PUV drivers and operators expect to promptly get the assistance after they were asked to open their personal e-wallet accounts.

However until now, these PUV drivers, operators and tricycle drivers have yet to receive aid.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) must address all sources of strain so that help reaches qualified beneficiaries without further delay, Poe said.

‘’We should not make our people wait any longer for the crucial assistance that they badly need at this time,’’ the senator stressed.

With the election spending ban also lifted on the Service Contracting Program, Poe said more PUV drivers are expected to be hired to give commuters free rides on certain routes.

‘’On-time payment of our drivers will clear a bump in the road on the rollout of this valuable service,’’ the lawmaker said.
