CEBU CITY -- A dream come true.

This was how Cordova Mayor Teche Sitoy-Cho described the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) which was inaugurated on Wednesday.

Cho said the construction of the 8.9-kilometer bridge is the dream of her father Adelino Sitoy.

Sitoy died in April 2021. The elder Sitoy served as Cordova mayor and was the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Secretary at the time of his passing.

“If I could ask God for him to be here and he would be physically present, maayo unta di ba? (it would have been great right?),” Cho said hours before the inauguration.

President Rodrigo Duterte was scheduled to lead the inauguration.

Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma led the blessing of the bridge.

Cho also thanked the President for gracing the inauguration.

The Cordova mayor also thanked the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) for trusting that the local government unit was capable of undertaking the project.

Construction of the P33-billion billion project started in July 2018.

CCLEX, the first-ever tollway system in Cebu, will connect Cordova and Cebu City. It is the third bridge connecting Metro Cebu and Mactan Island.

The country's tallest and longest bridge will be opened to the public by month's end or early May.
