Jarred Brooks certain we will dethrone ONE Strawweight world champ Pacio

Joshua Pacio (ONE Championship)

Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks has competed all over the world, having faced some of the best fighters in- and outside of ONE Championship.

But when he takes on ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio in their highly anticipated showdown, he knows that it will be his biggest match to date.

“It’s huge,” Brooks said. “He’s had that belt for the past five or six years. So if I can beat him, and then end up fighting him again , that just puts a staple on a really good career so far.”

And according to Brooks, he is up to the challenge.

The 28-year-old spoke confidently when asked about this upcoming clash with Pacio. After all, he believes that this fight will unfold the same way that his bout with another Team Lakay star did.

“I see this Lito Adiwang , just maybe a little bit easier,” Brooks said.

“Lito is more explosive, but I would say Joshua a little more technical savvy, and he has a little more patience.”

The match against Adiwang ended with Brooks scoring a second-round submission win, and he doesn’t see the outcome changing when he meets the young Filipino World Champion.

“We’ll see how this fight goes, but I think it would go the same way as Lito’s . I’d choke him out in the first or second round. I’m getting better almost every fight, and yeah, I think I can give him trouble on the feet and on the ground,” Brooks said.

Now, for Brooks, his only concern is about getting the match made as soon as possible, as he can’t wait to prove who the best strawweight on the planet is.

“I cannot release the date unfortunately, but it’s going to be sooner than later if Joshua takes it,” he said. “Joshua, you better take it.”
