Vogue Philippines names Bea Valdes as editor-in-chief


Filipina accessories designer Bea Valdes is set to lead the Philippine edition of Vogue Magazine as its editor-in-chief. Confirming her assignment is a news release by the fashion news website Business of Fashion.

According to its report, Bea will be joined by Pam Quiñones, Trina Epilepsia Boutain, Rhoda Campos-Aldanese as the fashion director, digital editor, and publisher, respectively, of the magazine.

“The values and the resolve of our community have been tested on an unprecedented global and local scale. Vogue’s values of inclusivity, diversity, sustainability, and respect for our natural environment remain critical at this time,” Bea told Vogue Business. “My vision for Vogue Philippines is to lead the industry with purpose, leaning into our Filipino values of optimism, bayanihan , and empathy through our stories. We celebrate craft and creativity, empowering our community and urging our Filipino culture forward.”

Bea is known for advocating sustainable fashion and championing local handicrafts through her jewelry designs. Her works have graced the international media such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, The New York Times, CNN, Financial Times, and Time among others. In 2010, she was recognized as one of Ten Outstanding Young Individuals (TOYM Awardee).

After finishing her creative writing and industrial design studies at the University of the Philippines, Bea took up interior design at the Inchbald School of Design in London.

Vogue Philippines is set to release its first issue in September 2022.
