Elon Musk buys Twitter for $44 billion

Elon Musk will buy Twitter for $44 billion.

In a press release, Musk said: “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated. I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

This comes not long since Elon Musk became the largest shareholder of Twitter after spending over $2 billion for a 9.2% stake.

Besides Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk is known for his tweets that range from business, cryptocurrency, politics, current events, and all other walks of life. His tweets can cause a major shift in the market and have been criticized for market manipulation.

If the acquisition of Twitters goes through, it will be one of the biggest in the tech industry. As of now, no one knows for sure how much Twitter will change in the future.
