Eleazar vows to increase monthly pension for senior citizens

Senatorial candidate Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar has vowed to increase the pension of indigent senior citizens, saying the continuous increase in the price of basic commodities makes the current pension insufficient to buy their basic needs that include maintenance medicines.

"This will be my priority if I win. The reality on the ground dictates that the pension that our poor senior citizens receive is not enough to buy even their daily maintenance medicines," said Eleazar.

Senior citizens are getting at least P500 for their monthly pension.

Another priority agenda of the Eleazar is to revive the Botika sa Barangat to provide free medicine to people in far-flung areas.

He also vowed to improve the health services in barangays for the benefit of senior citizens.

Eleazar said that he will also support any move to provide opportunities for the elderlies if they still want to work despite their age.

"There should be no discrimination when it comes to job opportunity. This is being done in other countries so I am confident that this will also be successful in our country," he said
