3,578 jobs up for grabs during jobs fair in Caraga region


BUTUAN CITY – The regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Northeastern Mindanao or The Caraga region announced today (Tuesday) the opening of 3,578 jobs that will be up for grabs during the celebration of Labor Day on Sunday, May 1.

“Yes, it will be up for grabs during our Labor Day Livelihood Job Fair at one of the city’s malls here this coming Sunday, May 1,” said DOLE 13 Regional Information Officer Anya Pernelle B. Sollano in an exclusive interview with The Manila Bulletin on Tuesday.

Of the 3,578 job openings, 1,494 are for local employment while 2,084 are for overseas, she said.

With the theme ‘Matatag na Manggagawa, Matatag na Bansa,’ the DOLE Caraga will lead the conduct of the 2022 Labor Day Livelihood Job Fair (Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan) on May 1 at the Robinson’s Place Butuan.

This will be participated in by 37 local and an estimated 15 overseas employers, she said.

Topping the job offers for local jobseekers include sales associates, service drivers, dump truck drivers, production staff, masons and other skilled workers for construction.

As part of the Labor Day celebration, the regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will also conduct a 2022 ‘Diskwento Caravan’ on reasonably-priced quality products, DOLE-13 said.

In the same occasion, DTI will showcase goods produced by its assisted livelihood beneficiaries in the different parts of Caraga region as well as “Kabuhayan” products from the DOLE-13 livelihood projects, partner organizations, and local entrepreneurs.

Other government agencies joining the fair are the Philippine Statistics Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Home Development Mutual Fund, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Professional Regulation Commission, Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

“We are expecting a large number of jobseekers to attend this event,” the DOLE 13 Regional Information Officer said, adding “This is part of the national employment recovery strategy of the government.”

Meanwhile, DOLE 13 Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao said this job fair and livelihood opportunities will further spur the economic recovery of this fast-rising region in Northeastern Mindanao.

“This job fair and livelihood showcase on Sunday (May 1, 2022) signals the start of Caraga region’s full economic recovery, over two years after the crippling disturbances brought by the pandemic,” the region’s top DOLE 13 official added.

This big event will be participated by the DOLE attached agencies Regional Coordinating Committee (DOLE-RCC) - National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPB), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) and National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO).
