The 71 anti-illegal drug operations carried out by various units under the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) was part of the Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations – a series of police operations that started at 12:01 a.m. on April 23 and ended at 12:01 a.m. on April 24 and which targeted all forms of criminality.

This resulted in the arrest of 541 individuals, said PRO 7 regional director Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega.

The biggest police catch for the day was the arrest of a food delivery driver in whose possession the police found 10 kilos of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

The estimated amount of the shabu seized from the suspect, Josh Vincent Camion, 34, was P68 million.

In the campaign against illegal gambling, 249 people were arrested while P22,665 cash and illegal gambling paraphernalia were seized.

In the campaign against loose firearms, 237 operations were conducted that saw the arrest of 13 persons and the confiscation of 246 firearms and two explosives.

A total of 186 wanted persons were also arrested on that day alone, Vega said.

"With this development, we vowed to double our efforts in our aggressive campaign against criminality in the Visayas region,” said Vega.

“I assure the Cebuanos that once you report your concerns to us, police stations and units are there to respond and give immediate action," he added.
